Strange New Worlds: Implementing Vega Discover in a Complex Consortium
Wednesday April 15, 2026 9:00am - 10:00am CDT
In 2025, The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC)-comprising four library systems and representing over 180 libraries across Alberta-undertook the implementation of Vega Discover. The TRAC environment is characterized by multiple layers of collaboration and decision-making across all areas, from cataloguing and system administration to public services. Because of this complexity, the implementation of a system as extensive and impactful as Vega Discover necessitated numerous adaptations to established practices, often diverging from the approaches employed by other libraries or consortia. This presentation will outline TRAC's implementation process from the initial research and evaluation phase through configuration, cataloguing modifications, and staff training. It will examine key challenges and successful strategies encountered throughout the project, present feedback from patrons, and discuss anticipated next steps in the ongoing development and optimization of Vega Discover within the consortium.

Vega WebBuilder - The easy way, the advanced way & the takeaways
Wednesday April 15, 2026 10:30am - 11:30am CDT
Vega WebBuilder is a iii/Clarivate product based to help libraries build their website on the Wix.com platform. We would like to portray our libraries (Springfield-Greene County Library District & Rochester Hills Public Library) experiences using the platform, ways other libraries could easily implement some of the features available, some of the more advanced options for libraries with more staff resources, and some ways you can use AI as a coding tool for web apps you may not be able to do without. Springfield-Greene County Library District & RHPL approached the Wix.com platform in different ways. Springfield-Greene used some of the simpler deployment features Wix.com offers to easily deploy a large website in a crunch period. Simple deployment features that can make production faster and easier include: Built-in wix modules Wix.com Mobile App Dynamic Pages Wix blogs CMS deployment with user permissions RHPL used more visual processes, advanced coding, and design concepts to create a more streamlined user experience. Tools that RHPL used to help stream user experience include: Saving custom assets Custom templates Wix Velo API coding 'Wix Blocks' App coding We may also go over on how to use AI as a tool to help you deploy some "need to have" features from older website deployments, and converting them into something usable by the Wix.com platform. We will also go over some of the faults and abnormalities that come with using the Wix.com platform so libraries can make an educated choice as to whether switching will be an improvement for their work environment. We hope this presentation can present several different ways the iii/Clarivate Vega WebBuilder platform can be used to modernize current library websites, and give libraries another choice as to how they manage their web presence.

Vega Rollups and Your Bibliographic Records: Making Them Work for Your Users
Wednesday April 15, 2026 3:00pm - 4:00pm CDT
As Vega has evolved, libraries have developed creative strategies to ensure their materials roll up (or don’t roll up) appropriately within the system’s MARC-to-BIBFRAME conversion and roll-up logic. Join colleagues from three different libraries—representing both standalone institutions and consortia—as they share how they approached a range of challenges, including video games, series statements, travel guides, and more.
Although some of the solutions discussed may no longer be necessary due to recent Vega upgrades, they provide practical insight into the kinds of decisions and adjustments libraries have made along the way. These examples may be especially helpful for libraries considering a transition to Vega or refining their records to better serve users and reduce frustration when searching for specific formats. This session will be an opportunity not only to learn from real-world experiences, but also to exchange ideas—attendees are encouraged to bring their own perspectives, questions, and strategies to enrich the conversation.
